About Me
Photography
has always been one of those things that I just loved. As a kid I would spendmydays
taking countless photographs with one of those "disc" cameras
(they don't make them any longer), and learning creative photography with
a 35mm camera in high school. As I've grown older, I've become much more
of a perfectionist and am definitely my own worst critic. But, I think
that's what makes someone good at something... always seeing that there
is room forimprovement, and striving to be better the next day.
When photographing
events or people, I usually bring my lovely wife Tonia who is my extra
set of eyes and helps me from missing anything. She's the best assistant
any photographer can ask for (and the best wife too, of course!).
My Philosophy
One of the
things that I enjoy most about photography is capturing people in their
element. I have never been a fan of the traditional "stand up straight
and say cheese" (say cheesy!) shots of old. Instead, I prefer to
photograph people in their natural setting... if you love to ride horses,
why not have a portrait that reflects that? If you're a sports fanatic,
or an executive, or a family that flies ultralights on the weekends, shouldn't
your portrait be a captured moment of your life? Traditional poses have
their place, but the best portraits come from capturing who the person
is, and that usually doesn't involve a paper backdrop!
The other
thing that is critical to me is that the people I photograph have fun!
I find that the best photographs are often taken when least expected,
and that's why I strive to make my photo sessions fun, enjoyable, and
memorable, in settings that allow free expressions and the element of
real life to come alive.
What I
Offer
As a team,
Tonia and I are devoted to serving our customers. And, that really means
that when you hire me (us) you are my employer. I will listen to what you have to say and do my best to incorporate your tastes into the photography session. I will not dictate what you should wear for a portrait session, or ask you to push back your event so I can photograph another on the same day. I promise to be on-time and be focused on giving you the best product I possibly can. I also promise to get your proofs and prints to you as quickly as possible, usually within a matter of days. I am dedicated to treating you as I would want to be treated.
I am here to give you the product and the experience you want.
It's all about you!
Technically,
I use state of the art Canon digital cameras. I also employ the use of professional-grade lenses and powerful software to make the most of every
image. I seldom use large strobe and flash setups at events, which tend to be more
of an eyesore than a benefit. During portrait sessions, I prefer to work outdoors in the morning or evening light which is extremely flattering to nearly any individual. At all times, I try to pack lightly and travel quietly to make the sessions fun, enjoyable and descrete.
In summary,
I'd like to add that photography is a love of mine and not my full-time
profession. I "pay the bills" as a radio engineer for a national
Christian radio network, but nothing compares to taking pictures, and
especially taking pictures that others will cherish. Because this is my
love and not my sole source of income, I am not in this to make a fist-full of cash - I do it because I love it. I truly want you to walk away with
a great experience and an awesome set of photographs. After all, isn't
that what you want in the first place?
